Party Balloon
Some say that the first party balloon was invented by the Aztecs. Cat guts were supposedly used to create the
balloon and were filled with air and some would make different shapes out of them. The Aztecs might place the party
balloon on the altar next to the foods offered to the Gods.
Around the early eighteen hundreds Professor Michael Faraday of London England, cut a few pieces of rubber in a
circle and thrust the ends together. By sending hydrogen into the rubber so that it would expand, he noted the
hydrogen was so light it forced the balloon to float. Today a party balloon can be found in almost every store that
sells party favors.
A shape of a cat’s head was one of the most popular party balloons made during the nineteen thirty’s. Someone
came up with the idea if they could make a cat’s head, why not other objects and shapes? Many of the big department
stores used a party balloon or two for advertising, putting their logo on them and letting them fly into the air or
attaching them to the front of the store.
Nowadays water balloons have become quite trendy as a party balloon. They are a bit thinner than a normal
balloon. That is because you want it to explode on impact, soaking the person you threw it at. They are so much fun
at a pool party or just filling them up with water and throwing them at your brother or sister or if very brave at
your mom and dad.
It is difficult to state what uses a party balloon can be used for. The range is so large, from birthday parties
to weddings and beyond. Walking into a church with balloons for a wedding is a sight to behold. They might
grace the pews and an arch over the mantle. They are made up of the colors of the brides theme.
Then walk into the reception room and you will see thousands of a party balloon, of every shape and size. They
may adorn the tables and where the band is. Many will put lights through them, giving a soft, glowing atmosphere. A
big party balloon can be filled with smaller balloons with money tucked into them.
A sweet sixteen party or a Quinceanera have always had a party balloon or two. They can be hanging from the
ceiling, or made into an arch where the young ladies would stand or to walk through the arch into a new life as she
turns sixteen. Bright beautiful colors are always available. Some will have the party balloons on the floor, which
is fun kicking around.
Children’s themed parties are another great way to use a party balloon. Many of them now can be blown up to look
like Mickey Mouse, fish, sesame characters, Bob the Builder or Hello Kitty. Small boys are really into Bob the
Builder and the girls just adore Hello Kitty.
People of all ages like balloons. Whether having just one big party balloon maybe as a centerpiece or many, they
are always fun to have and to play with. Be very careful with either flat balloons or inflated ones. A small child
might swallow it and can suffocate. Pick up popped balloons and dispose of them right away.
